As part of its commitment to quality, the laboratory participates in and conforms with the external quality assurance schemes run by the United Kingdom National External Quality Assessment Service, UKNEQUAS and the Irish External Quality Assurance Scheme, IEQAS.
Tests available
A comprehensive range of tests is available through the laboratory
Anticoagulant Therapy Levels
Patients can have their blood sample taken at a time suitable to them or the sample can be sent directly to the laboratory. The results will be available within half an hour and can be given to the patient to return to their doctor or phoned directly to the doctor
Phlebotomy
A phlebotomy service is available. Patients should contact the Outpatient Department (091-757711, ext. 129) to make an appointment. A request form signed by a doctor is required.
Cervical Cytology Smear Taking
There is an Accredited Cytology Nurse in the hospital. Appointments should be made through the Laboratory. A request form signed by a doctor is required.
