Nursing/Midwifery Services
The Management of the Nursing/Midwifery services in Bon Secours
Hospital, steeped in a rich tradition of caring, believes in
the integrity and worth of the human person. The Nursing/Midwifery
Management values its human resource and welcomes innovation
and creativity. Good decision making ability is encouraged
and present managers are invited to play an active role in
the accreditation process (Joint Accreditation International).
Bon
Secours Management structure provides professional guidance
and support for Nurses and Midwives to enhance their knowledge
and skills within the organisation and staff are facilitated
to attend a variety of In-service Education Study Days and
on-going Professional Development initiatives presented,
in the hospital, by the Centre for Nurse Education. In addition,
professional nurses and midwives in Bon Secours act within
the Code of Professional Conduct for each Nurse and Midwife
(An Bord Altranais, 2000) and at all times are accountable
within the scope of their professional practice (An Bord
Altranais, 2000).
Bon Secours Hospital provide clinical practice placements
for Baccalaureate students, studying in University College
Cork.
