The Bon Secours Hospital Cork Pathology Department
has been awarded
accreditation to the new International Medical Standard ISO/IEC
15189. This
standard is based on ISO 17025 and ISO 9001 and provides
requirements for
competence and quality that are particular to medical laboratories.
The Bon
Secours Cork is the first laboratory in Ireland to receive
this
accreditation.
Where is the laboratory located ?
The Pathology Department is located on the bottom floor of the north
wing (adjacent to the car park at the rear of the hospital). The department
employs approximately 40 people including three Consultant Pathologists.
It is sub-divided into the following sections:

For urgent samples the biochemistry, microbiology and haematology/blood
bank departments provide 24 hours cover every day of the year. |
