24 hour 'Holter' E.C.G.
Used for identifying the cause of some types of palpitation, the 'Holter'
recording is made on a small walkman-like tape over a 24 hour period while
you go about your normal day activities. Recording wires attached to your
chest are connected to the recorder, which you wear on a belt or a shoulder
strap. The recording is then analysed by computer and your docter will
have a clear picture of any changes which have occured during that 24 hour
period.
The Hospital has, through well-established contacts within the greater
medical community, the facility for referral to other hospitals providing
services not available on site, such as coronary artery by-pass surgery. |
