Strike Action Averted
05 February, 2010
February 5th, 2010: Bon Secours Health System can confirm that, following discussions with the unions today at the Labour Relations Commission (LRC), the threatened strike action due to take place at the Bon Secours hospitals in Cork, Dublin, Galway and Tralee on Monday, February 8th, 2010 has been averted.
The parties have agreed to enter into discussions under an agreed framework which will deal with a range of cost saving measures necessary to ensure the viability of the hospitals and sustainability of jobs. It has been agreed by both parties that this review will be concluded in a three-week period in order that the necessary savings are immediately implemented.
As a gesture of goodwill, Bon Secours will suspend the pay cut for the three-week period to allow the discussions to conclude.
